61 and still counting

Yesterday was the day when our country was like 60 years old ..some more hours and we are 61..wow..it feels great..This day brings some kind of patriotic feelings inside every Indian and we surely feel proud to be an Indian ..
I woke up at 7 and was quite excited about the day.. Every morning of I- day i do the same..I am always interested in watching the flag Hoisting by the PM and listening to his speech... It was like a great feeling listening to the National Anthem and i was kinda filled with a lot of excitement..i remembered when i was in high school i always participated in the parade ceremony ..and felt really proud marching on the beats o the drum..But now i was more than happy remembering those days..anyhow...!!
I was kinda listening to speech of our PM and he was mentioning all the things his govt has done..but dont know somewhere inside i was like very mch disappointed..I was expecting much more..considering the situation our country is in ... !! Hell it seemed he was more concerned about praising his govt rather than addressing the issues concerning the common people !!

I was kinda Asking myself !!!
Are we Really Independent ??

I try to compare present scenario with what was prevelant before 1947. Common man was crushed, police force was nothing but representation of the british rulers, zamindars and landlords ruled their areas. What we have after 1947 - same situation, the only difference is that the pople on top have changed and we are forced to elect them.

Can any person dare lodging an FIR against the SHO or any senior person of police thana - We Cant. Can a common man rise against his local MLA or MP - he cant. Earlier we were crushed by Britishers now we are crushed by our own man. The rules made by one government are totally changed by the other, only to please the ego of politicians.

When viceroy or other senior member of the british raj use to pass by road, public was made to wait and was completely stopped from using that area. Same thing happens now. If President or prime minister is on the move, the same road becomes a cantonment. You are stopped, no matter how much you plead and what emergency you have. The policewala posted will abuse you and even lathi charge you if you try to move.

Where is the change? The policies of DIVIDE AND RULE started by Britishers have been refined and used more effectively by current date politicians. It has been brought to such level that even britishers will be wondering. India is divided - divided on caste, creed and now Areas. Was this the shape of India that was dreamed? Do we need another Gandhi, who can unite us and guide us in the right direction. The question remains. With so much of knowledge and power of Press why cant we stand and fight against the misuse of Power by the policeman and politicans? Are we afraid or we have lost the courage that Freedom Fighters use to have? Have we turned somuch selfish that we think only of ourselves and our family? What is going on in the neighbourhood is not our concern? Is this the society that we feel proud of? Time has come when we need to rethink again and stand up and fight for the right cause....

Independence to me is not just going to mall , late night partying with friends or spitting on the road an all the ill advantages we take out of being known as the biggest Democracy !! Independence to me is the state of a nation in which there are no social restrictions..The people are free in all sense..be it political or religious.. Independence to me is when my Country is free from terrorism ..Independence to me is when my country is free from divisive and dirty politics..Independence to me is when every day is celebrated with the same zeal and patriotism as !5th of August!!
We need a hunter really to drive this country..
Why is it that we need a special day to show our loyalty or affection towards our nation? Why do we give importance to this one day? Are we indians for only one day of the year? I know many people may have asked you these questions many a times, but have you ever been able to give out any answers?

Here's an appeal to all Indians. Please give a thought to the sacrifice of our countrymen, without which we would not have been able to celebrate our independence. Try to do whatever you can for the thousands of people who don't even know the meaning of independence and have to make ends meet for their basic existence. Think independently. Many others may have conflicting views. But I am sure there are many who would share my opinion. As for me, I am not content with my independence but will strive for it and at the same time feel proud of being an indian throughout the year. I am sure that one day we will be able to call ourselves independent by all means. Till then, let's just keep on trying and contribute in whatever ways we can. Remember! Together we can.
JAI HIND!!
